About Our CSA
Our CSA includes vegetables and herbs grown on our 7 acre farm, where we do our best to be stewards to our soil, following sustainable, caring growing practices. The CSA is an amazing way to support what we do, and help keep the local growing scene in Charleston alive. We operate in a semi-tropical climate very different from most other parts of the country, and our CSA program shows you what eating seasonally really means here in the Low Country. We do two CSA rounds each year - one in the Fall to Winter, and one in the Spring to Summer, taking a short break in between.
CSA FAQ’s
How long is the season?
Our CSAs usually run between `13 and 20 weeks long each round.
What's in the CSA?
It depends on the season, but you can expect standards such as leafy greens, herbs, and root vegetables, as well as a taste of more exotic produce like turmeric and ginger. Past shares have included locally foraged mushrooms, fresh cut flowers, sorrel, assorted peppers, salad greens, potatoes and sweet potatoes, bok choi, lemon grass and galangal. We recommend that you check out our Instagram account (@spadeandclover) to get an idea of the type of produce we cultivate. All of the produce, herbs, flowers and foraged items are from our fields unless one of our fellow farmer friends with a similar style of cultivation and quality has an excess of a certain crop that we do not have at that time.
(Our shares feed two people comfortably each week.)
How do I purchase my share?
We always have a full season purchase option, which is the most cost-effective choice (each share amounts to $23/week). We usually also offer a half season share, posting the latter half option in the middle of the season. When availability allows, we will open up 1 week shares as well. Click here to sign up!
